Play at camp lotus

Everything you need, right here at camp.

When you arrive at Camp Lotus you immediately hear the echo of the river, the rustling of trees, the sounds of birds and are enveloped by the lush, thoughtfully maintained landscape. You have arrived at a place that truly takes you away from it all. Camp Lotus is 23 acres along the banks of a world-class whitewater river tucked into the historic Coloma-Lotus Valley. The foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains are your backdrop. Experience beautiful sunsets, deep night skies, and fog lifting off the river like a blanket in the morning to greet you as you sit with a cup of hot coffee and a warm muffin in your hand.

If your final destination is Camp Lotus, you can enjoy our:
  • 1-mile nature loop trail on the campground.

  • Numerous beach spots along the river with shade, grass, or sandy nooks to lay out a towel or chair

  • Swim, fish, or float. Or try kayaking, surfing, or stand-up paddle boarding. Camp Lotus is a base camp for numerous raft companies and a kayak school. We are a short float to Barking Dog, a popular surfing and kayaking spot.

  • Grab a book from our lending libraries, kick your feet up, or play some ping-pong, badminton, or volleyball.

  • Shop our fully-stocked store for gifts, games, unique clothing, and camping supplies.

DELI

The Camp Lotus Deli is known for delicious muffins, cookies, scones, and other treats fresh-baked many mornings in summer. We also offer made-to-order breakfast and lunch sandwiches, made with high-quality fresh ingredients, an espresso bar, and even bubble tea! We serve organic, fair-trade coffee and often have gluten-free and vegan bakery options. The deli is typically open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

RIVER ACCESS

Camp Lotus has several river access points ranging from sandy beaches, and grassy coves to rocky shores perfect for playing, or swimming. We have several great swimming beaches suitable for adults and supervised children. River levels rise and fall daily, so please be alert to the changing water levels and wear a life jacket when swimming in the American River. We are also a great access point for surfers and kayakers looking to surf the downstream popular Barking Dog surf wave.

NATURE AREA & TRAIL

Camp Lotus has a one-mile trail perfect for wildlife viewing that loops around the perimeter of the Camp Lotus property through our upper forested area and along the river, leading to our nature meadow area. The nature meadow was established to protect the remaining riparian habitat and to create a wildlife refuge during the busy summer months. The nature meadow is a quiet spot to sit and enjoy the river, read a book, or do some yoga. It’s also a great spot for those interested in wildlife viewing. You may see great blue heron, kingfishers, and occasionally an otter along the shore. In the spring spot mule deer and California quails nesting and exploring with their young.
